Celebrities Wear Antique Engagement Rings

There is something about antique engagement rings that make them extra special. It might be the sense of history they carry, or that they have a story behind them and a little mystery. Maybe they are special because they are a family heirloom and because of that they have a strong sentimental value, something you cannot put a price on. Whatever the reason, antique engagement rings are special all on their own.

Maybe that is why celebrities like them so much. Even if the ring looks the exact same as one you could find in a local jewellers today, it is worth more because it is an heirloom. Many celebrities have these engagement rings, and even more have rings that just look like antiques.

Jennifer Love Hewitt and actor Ross McCall are not engaged any more, since they broke it off in early 2008, but when they were she had an amazingly beautiful antique engagement ring. It was a family heirloom and had been in McCall’s family for over one-hundred years.

Catherine Zeta Jones also has a penchant for antique engagement rings. Michael Douglas proposed with a ring from the 1920s. It is a Fred Leighten design, with a 10-carat centre stone surrounded by smaller diamonds. Reese Witherspoon, LeAnn Rimes, Rebecca Romijn-Stamos, and Kate Hudson have all have or had antique engagement rings. Ashley Judd has a cushion-cut diamond, which is not a ring found very often any more. This type of cut, which is a cross between an oval cut and a radiant cut, was very popular in the early 19th century, but until just recently it was only possible to find them at estate sales or auctions, because they were not made for such a long time. Thanks to celebrities like Ashley wearing them, this type of cut has been increasing in popularity and is now found in many jewellers.

Antique engagement rings are not just about the cost or the size of the diamond. These rings have something different that makes them special. It is the history and the story that they bring with them. These rings have seen more than most of the women who wear them, and that makes them truly unique.
